Grant County Sheriff

Brian Maines has been serving as the current Grant County Sheriff since his term began in January of 2019.  Brian has been a professional law enforcement officer for over 16 years.  He graduated from Department of Criminal-Justice Training in 2005 and then started his law enforcement career as a Patrol Deputy with the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.  Brian was promoted to Sergeant in 2012,  and then was promoted again to Chief Deputy in 2015.

Brian has over 1,500 hours of law enforcement training as well as 200 hours of training in Sheriff’s Executive Command.  He is a Department of Criminal Justice Training Firearms Instructor, an Academy of Police Supervision graduate, he was assigned as a Task Force Officer with the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and he serves on the Board of Directors for the Kentucky Sheriff’s Association.

Brian is a lifelong Grant County resident. He and his wife Heather have three daughters, Mariah, Jayden and Preslee.  Brian and his family currently attend Mt. Olivet Christian Church where he serves as a Deacon.
